The Next Big Thing - ORANGECOVE

Bright stage lights, big stage set up and taking part in major music events, ORANGECOVE made their way to the top with their fun, upbeat and electrifying music. Like their music, the members of ORANGECOVE are the same onstage and offstage – genuine and passionate.

PIRATES OF THE MUSIC WORLD: The guys of ORANGECOVE shared how their band name came about - their love for the colour orange and the houses by the beach, the cove. Also, with an anchor as their band logo, it gives their band a “pirate” theme and hence the term “pirates of the music world”.  (PHOTO: Nadia Al-Insyiraah)

Started from the bottom, now they’re here
With a shared passion for making good music and love for McFly; Kenneth, Alvin, Benjamin and Sean brought ORANGECOVE to life eight years ago. Like all bands, ORANGECOVE embraced every performance regardless of the crowd size and took each one as a learning experience and stepping-stone to reach greater heights.

“We’ve played to no one before and also played to only one person who was the event organiser” shared Kenneth, the leader of the band about their first few performing experiences.

From giving out flyers, playing to a ghost crowd and now - opening for “We The Kings Concert” at The Coliseum which has a seating capacity of a 1000 audience, it has been a long way since the band’s inception.

ORANGECOVE calls 2014 their breakthrough year as they’ve had some of the best experiences together as band. It is no doubt that this is their year since they’ve taken over some of the biggest stage such as Earth Hour, Music Matters Live and Baybeats.

Home Ground
As former Republic Polytechnic students, Benjamin (bassist) and Alvin (guitarist) shared their excitement to perform in the polytechnic which they are familiar with and felt like coming back home.

“I remembered when we were still in school and they had IGNITE! and we thought how nice it would be to perform on the IGNITE! stage.” Alvin said.

Performing on the IGNITE! stage is not only a dream come true for ORANGECOVE but to many of their fans too. After their performance at IGNITE! Your Senses last year, the guys definitely gained more stage experience and more people came to know and love their music as well. When they took the main stage this year, needless to say, their fans were elated.

Something More
ORANGECOVE wants their music to be more than just ear pleasing and sets people dancing on their feet. It should also be an inspiration for people to pursue their dreams as well.

“Never give up on your passion, take your time to hone your skills, get better at it and people will see the talent in you” Sean (drummer) shares.

Music is a universal language where it reaches out to people on the same level and the guys aim to let people find comfort and connect with each other.

“When people have no one to turn to or talk to, I want them to be able to relate to our songs and let them know they are not alone” said Kenneth.

I don’t know about you but ORANGECOVE definitely charmed some ladies by their vocals at IGNITE! Music Festival 2014.
